Emirates adds premium economy on more flights to Maldives and Sri Lanka
Three flights now operate daily to Malé with Boeing 777 services
DUBAI: Emirates is boosting its Premium Economy offering with the deployment of its retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft on more routes, including to the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
From 18 July, Colombo will welcome Emirates’ upgraded Boeing 777 on daily flight EK650/651, complementing the existing Premium Economy service operated by the Airbus A350.
Meanwhile, the Maldives will now be served by three daily Emirates flights featuring the Premium Economy cabin, reflecting growing demand for elevated travel experiences in the region.
Enhanced aircraft features
The four-class Boeing 777 aircraft now operating on these routes features Emirates’ renowned Premium Economy cabin, in addition to upgraded interiors across First, Business, and Economy classes. Passengers flying Premium Economy can enjoy 24 seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout with 6-way adjustable headrests, 40-inch recline, and expanded legroom. Travellers also benefit from 35kg of checked baggage and 10kg of hand luggage.
Onboard Business Class has also been transformed, with soft leather cream seats trimmed in champagne tones, lighter wood panelling, and modern design inspired by the Emirates A380. The 1-2-1 seat layout ensures direct aisle access, with each seat converting into a fully flatbed stretching 78.6 inches. Passengers also enjoy a 23-inch HD entertainment screen, one of the largest in the skies.
Flight timings and availability
To the Maldives, Emirates now operates three daily flights offering Premium Economy. Flight EK656 departs Dubai at 02:30hrs, landing in Malé at 07:40hrs. EK657 departs Malé at 09:15hrs and lands in Dubai at 12:15hrs. Another Premium Economy-equipped service, EK660, departs at 10:10hrs and arrives in Malé at 15:30hrs, with return flight EK661 leaving at 18:25hrs and reaching Dubai at 21:25hrs.
For Colombo, the newly retrofitted EK650 departs Dubai at 02:40hrs and arrives at 08:35hrs, with the return EK651 leaving Colombo at 10:05hrs and landing in Dubai at 12:55hrs.
